Structural vibration absorption in multilayered sandwich structures using negative stiffness nonlinear oscillators

We hereby report on the incorporation of negative stiffness oscillators realized through Euler buckled beams within vibrating multilayered sandwich structures. Such devices have been extensively investigated as single degree freedom isolation mechanisms when mechanical grounding is available. It worth exploring influences implementing such continuous structures given their interesting nonlinear vibration characteristics. A numerical investigation presented in this work with computed performance being compared against one linear equal mass and damping properties. Despite fact that (NSN) were not properly optimized for specific application due to implied computational cost, they exhibited superior counterparts a broadband sense. Considering dependence resonators’ manufacturing precision narrowband excitation, NSN concept an excellent candidate attenuating structural across wide spectrum.
